Detlef Kammeier
Detlef Kammeier is a specialist in urban, rural, and environmental planning and management at all scales, from project implementation at the "grassroots" up to national programmes and policies.
Detlef has spent most of his career with a university base, but his laboratory has always been the "real world". Even in his teaching and research, the emphasis has been on training and supporting planning practitioners. He is convinced that the conceptual knowledge derived from his teaching and research has shaped his professional practice, just as the latter has informed his teaching and research.
Detlef's area of expertise encompasses urban land use planning, transportation and environmental infrastructure, urban and rural-regional environmental management, urban conservation, regional planning, and rural infrastructure planning, including related aspects of legislation, administrative organization, computer applications, and policy formulation.
For well over 30 years, Detlef has worked mainly in Asia, but he has always tried to keep in in touch with planning practice and research in the rest of the world, especially in Europe. His work has included a large number of consulting and advisory assignments in various countries.
